You can find some helpful checklists below to assist you in getting ready.

Before Surgery

Talk to your primary care provider about any drugs you are now taking or intend to use while you are recovering. Herbs, vitamins, and minerals can all have an effect on how drugs work.

If you are having a cosmetic operation done as an outpatient, you should make sure that you have someone to take you to and from the surgery and to remain with you for at least the first night after the procedure. This is especially important if the procedure is extensive.

Get any medicines filled in advance that will be required after the operation, since this will save time after the procedure.

Be sure to follow the directions given to you regarding your food and drink; the majority of cosmetic operations demand that you not eat or drink after midnight.

Put out your cigarette well in advance of your operation. During surgical procedures, smoking can make patients feel nauseous and exacerbate their lungs, and it can also slow down their recovery time.

You should finish packing your bags the night before your procedure. Bring along any of your personal belongings that you might require.

The night before your operation, take out any credit cards or valuables that you may have in your handbag or wallet.

On the day of the surgery, you should not wear any kind of jewellery.

Bring along a container that can carry your eyeglasses or contact lenses in case you need to use either one of them.

Bring along some comfy clothing that you can change into after the treatment.

Bring along any relevant documents, such as your insurance card, advanced care, living will, or healthcare power of attorney.

The Day of the Operation

Arrive at the location where you will be having the operation at the time that has been recommended by your cosmetic surgeon. This will guarantee that you have adequate time to be ready.

Be sure to have someone be with you for the full duration of the period that your cosmetic surgeon recommends you take off of work.

After you have been shown to the surgery area that has been assigned to you, please ask any family members or friends who are accompanying you to wait in the waiting area of the department.

After Surgery

Immediately after your operation, you will be taken to a recovery area where you will remain until the surgeon determines that you are ready to be discharged and can either be returned home or, less frequently, transferred to a hospital room or hotel room for an overnight stay.

After your operation, you will have to return for a follow-up appointment at the surgeon’s office so that he or she may assess how well you are recovering and remove your stitches, if that becomes required. In addition, the Cleveland Clinic Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery Center will provide you with a number of post – discharge, medication instructions, and contact information for emergency services, as well as a list of post – discharge and medication instructions. If you have any inquiries, you should always give your physician a call and have a conversation with them.
